Traditionally Chiropractic adjustments were done by hand to correct biomechanical dysfunction or subluxation in the spine.

There are many different manual techniques used but the main manual techniques our Active Back Care practitioners use are Diversified, Gonstead and ABC ( Advanced Bio-structural Correction) These are precise techniques that require specific contact and small thrusts (adjustment) that activate fast stretch reflexes in the joint and muscles to relieve pain, alleviate pressure from inflammation and swelling and restore joint function.

With years of training and experience our practitioners can apply these safe and effective techniques to facilitate recovery from back and neck pain or stiffness, postural strain, sports injuries and other traumas.

Exercise Prescription

As you recover from your injury, your practitioner will introduce some targeted strength and conditioning exercises to help rebuild muscles and re-train joint function and balanced movement. This is important to ensure long term recovery and prevent re-injury. Each exercise programme will be prescribed specific to your individual needs.

At Active Back Care we also offer the professional skills of our Personal Trainers in our own exclusive gym. They will work closely with our other practitioners to help you start your exercise programme and stick to it with correct and effective techniques. Chiropractic Drop Piece Table

A drop piece table is a specialized Chiropractic table that helps adjust lower back, pelvic and mid back problems with ease and comfort. It can also be used to effectively adjust the neck and extremities. The table features 3 to 4 sections that can be specifically raised by about 1 to 2 inches beneath the spinal segment to be adjusted. By setting a precise resistance, the Chiropractor can then deliver a gentle, controlled adjustment that is safe and comfortable. Like other Chiropractic adjustments, drop piece adjustments are effective in relieving pain and stiffness and restoring movement to joints.

At Active Back Care, our practitioners are experienced in using various tapes to support your recovery or get you back on your feet or back in the game fast! They may use rigid Sports Tape ( non- stretch) to restrict movement of an injured joint, support healing of an injury, prevent re-injury or speed up return to an activity or sport. Alternatively, they may use KinesioTape with special stretch that provides joint support but allows some therapeutic movement. In addition, the Kinesiotape gently lifts the skin and decompresses the underlying tissues to reduce pain and swelling. Strategic application of tape can help stabilize an injury, improve posture and promote recovery.
